Casey completed an Advanced Diploma of Performing Arts in Dance at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). During her time at WAAPA Casey was fortunate enough to travel to Kuala Lumpar for the 1998 Commonwealth Games where she performed at an arts festival that coincided with the games. Also whilst at WAAPA she was placed on secondment with both the Queensland Ballet and the Western Australian Ballet. After WAAPA Casey moved to London. During her time here she auditioned and danced throughout Europe and the UK, including regularly attending classes at the famous Pineapple Dance Studio in London’s Covent Garden. Casey was then offered the position of dance teacher at a prestigious London health club where she taught ballet and jazz to children of all ages.
After living in London for 2 years Casey returned to Australia and began her primary teaching degree. On completion of her degree Casey was targeted graduate and was offered a position within the DEC in Sydney. After 7 years in Sydney and 2 children later Casey and her family moved home to Newcastle where she now is a permanent teacher at New Lambton South Public School.
Omer Backley-Astrachan was born in Israel in 1987.
