PROPEL CHOREOGRAPHIC RESIDENCY
PROGRAM

Propel fosters experimentation, and artistic interchange, creating a platform for research, practice, and performance; linking artists in capital cities with Hunter artists.

    TIME,
    EXPERIMENTATION & CREATIVE RISK-TAKING

PROPEL provides crucial infrastructure including: studio-time, wages, mentoring,
administration, marketing, and production support. At the conclusion
of each residency, showings and performances, incorporating artist talks, helps build audience capacity for innovative, multi-disciplinary dance practice.

"Through collaboration with renowned choreographer Craig Bary, I expanded my skillset, professional network & integrated knowledge of cross-disciplinary practice. The broadening of these have already led to new engagements that would not have previously been possible without the platform provided by Propel."

    DALE COLLIER MULTI-DISCIPLINARY ARTIST

“As an experimental artist based in Newcastle, I recognise that the chance to work with established choreographers is paramount to the on-going professional development of my arts practice, especially as a regional artist. Catapult Dance Choreographic residency program ‘Propel’ provides an extensive opportunity for artists like myself to collaborate with industry leading professionals on a peer to peer basis.”
