Commissioned in 2021 for the unveiling of the new Lake Macquarie Multi-Arts Pavillion (MAP) mima, Drift was a chance for our artists to explore movement that interacted with the stunning natural environment around them. It was a treat to celebrate this fantastic new cultural space with a brand-new dance work.
The work featured dance artists Craig Bary, Brooke Baxter, Alexandra Ford, Nicola Ford, Janaya Lamb, Jesse Murray, Mikayla Nangle, Kyle Ramboyong & Sophia Van Gent, and was created in collaboration with Catapult directer Cadi McCarthy.
Have you ever closed your eyes and floated on the sea? Followed the breeze? This superb performance from the Hunter’s own dance company, Catapult, will set you adrift.
On the shores of Lake Macquarie, Drift will carry you along for a brand-new experience as the Multi-Arts Pavilion, mima (MAP mima) opens to live performance for the very first time.
Drift is a full-length, site-specific dance piece produced by local contemporary choreographic hub, Catapult, featuring nine professional dancers. This new work was commissioned by Lake Macquarie City Council to welcome you to the region’s newest and most unique contemporary arts venue.
Enjoy this outdoor concert with a wine in hand, watching the sunset and celebrating the beginning of something very special for Lake Macquarie.
