Hysteria: 2023 at The Lock Up

Hysteria picks at the edges of the neatly ordered homes, and tight-fisted definitions of femininity, unraveling outward into a creaturely chaos. This dance theatre and installation work critiques attitudes towards gendered human energy, female agency, and the domestic habitat.

Developed by Alysha Fewster and Angie Diaz, and featuring choreographer and dancer Jasmin Sheppard and NAISDA dancer Maddison Fraser, Hysteria invites you into a world which sways and ripples between states of calm and tension, grappling with what it is to exist in our animal bodies.
